Cast, not born
The glassmaker's last commission of the night was a good-luck Shiba. Somewhere between the furnace and
the mould the pigment jar came up empty, and rather than start again he poured it clear. What cooled on
the bench was a dog you could read a ledger through.

A Shiba always waits
It's the one thing the breed is famous for. This one picked the far end of a bridge and sat down.
Because he's glass, everyone crossing can see exactly what he's holding while he waits — which is
nothing except what you handed him.
03
The bridge holds
Pons. They set him on the glass span as a joke, expecting the usual crunch. He walked it.
Sat down on the other side, looked back, and waited to see who else had nothing to hide.
He's still sitting there. On Robinhood.
